It's... done...

You know, a few minutes ago, as I was saving this file it seemed kind of unreal, but that fan manga I started 3 years ago is done. Somehow I'm not surprised because I knew last week I was going to finish this soon. It's like I want more. I'm certainly not dissatisfied with this, because comparing the first and the last pages, I can tell there's an improvement. And that's what I'm craving for now.

I really want to start a new project, but I will probably stay away from Zelda fanart for now. I want to create something new. So if you're willing to learn more as I go forward on this new path, please follow me on twitter (at malu_clbs) and on tumblr (maluclbs.tumblr.com), since I update much more frequently on those social sites.

Thanks for your continued support! I will keep doing my best because I feel like I have much more to say through art.

I love it! And it's an interesting reference to Marin. I was never a huge fan of the earlier 3D Zelda games (believe it or not, Ocarina of Time is probably my least favorite Zelda game) but Wind Waker just felt so much better in my opinion. But I digress.

Yay! I'm glad you love it <3. I didn't really like Wind Waker when it first came out, but replaying it afterwards has made me appreciate it more. Link's Awakening is definitely one of my favorites, so I had to put Marin there as a reference.

Link's Awakening is an interesting specimen. I revisited it a few months ago, and there were quite a few more problems than I remember, even to the writing. I feel like it's a game with a ton of potential, though, especially as a remake. It's essentially a game where you save a world by destroying it. If the relationship between Link and the residents of the island (especially Marin) was fleshed out much more, and Link given more character (when he learns of the island's secret, and eventual fate, he doesn't seem to care that much) it could be a truly emotional roller-coaster.

And this is one of the main reasons I actually don't like Nintendo's current view, or Ocarina of Time. In an era of Nintendo where games are getting remakes and reboots left and right, there's one game that could truly benefit from a modern make-over. But Nintendo just doesn't seem to care about Link's Awakening. It's swept to the side, like all the other actually amazing mobile video games in favor of games like Ocarina of time, which, while amazing in some ways, still have problems of their own that the masses just don't see. They gloss over Link's Awakening, seeming to mention it out of pity, like "Oh... yeah... hey there... Hey, let's focus on Ocarina of time!".

Sorry about the rant. I just needed to get that off my chest.

No worries about the rant. I would love remakes of the older games, if anything to give them a bit more of a backstory. I'm not gonna deny I've bought most of the remakes. But that's because Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess are among my favorite games. I currently have no interest in buying a Skyward Sword HD remake because I didn't enjoy it as much.

I think the reason Link doesn't look attached to the characters in Link's Awakeninng is in part because of the technology back then (you know, not so many expressions because of pixel limitations), and part because the player's supposed to feel like they're Link. So the player's emotions become Link's emotions. Well, that's just me, I know there's people out there who prefer Link having his own personality, and you might be one of them, I'm not sure... but I like the thought of being Link while I'm playing. So of course I felt bad when I found out I had to destroy the island. The DX version adds a bit of personality to Link though, with the picture album showing his reactions to different situations, which I think are hilarious and awesome.
